Unthread Privacy Policy
How the Unthread game, published by TechStack Atlas, handles your data.
Last updated: November 4, 2026
The short version: you can play Unthread without an account and without giving us your name, email or phone number. The game is free and shows ads from Google AdMob, which you can limit with your consent choices or remove with a purchase. Google Firebase tells us how levels play and when the game crashes and keeps a cloud copy of your progress, and Google Play Games or Game Center run the leaderboards. You can delete your cloud data from the game at any time. We never sell your personal information.
Who we are
Unthread is a puzzle game for Android, iPhone and iPad published by TechStack Atlas (“we”). On Google Play it is listed under the developer account Paracodex. Questions about this policy: hello@techstackatlas.com.
What the game collects
| Information | Collected by | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Device and advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID; Apple IDFA only if you allow tracking), Firebase installation ID | Google AdMob, Firebase | Showing and measuring ads, limiting how often you see them, preventing fraud, analytics |
| Approximate location: country or region estimated from your IP address (never GPS) | Google AdMob, Firebase | Ad delivery, applying the right consent rules, aggregated analytics |
| Gameplay: levels started, cleared and failed, mistakes, hints and boosters, session length, settings, ads offered and watched | Firebase Analytics | Tuning level difficulty and improving the game |
| Game account: an anonymous account ID and a random player ID; your Google Play Games or Game Center player ID if you sign in | Firebase Authentication, Google Play Games or Game Center | Keeping your cloud save and moving it to a new phone |
| Game progress: cleared levels, stars, coins and coin totals, streaks, achievements, what you own, app version and platform | Cloud Firestore (Firebase), your device | Saving and syncing your progress |
| Leaderboard scores and your Play Games or Game Center name | Google Play Games or Game Center | Rankings and achievements |
| Purchases: which products you bought, price and currency, order and transaction IDs | Google Play or the App Store, Unity IAP, Cloud Firestore | Delivering, restoring and checking purchases; refunds and support |
| App integrity: a token showing requests come from the genuine app (no personal data) | Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity or Apple App Attest | Protecting your cloud save from abuse |
| Crash and diagnostic data: crash logs, device model, OS and app version | Firebase Crashlytics | Finding and fixing bugs |
We don't collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, microphone or camera. Payment details are handled only by Google Play or Apple; we never see your card. There is no chat or messaging.
Your game account
The first time you play, Firebase creates an anonymous game account so your progress can be saved in the cloud. If you are signed in to Google Play Games (Android) or Game Center (Apple), the game links that account, so your progress comes back after a reinstall or on a new phone. Leaderboards and achievements are run by Google Play Games and Game Center and show your profile name there.
You don't have to sign in to anything to play. Without it, your cloud save stays tied to this install of the game. Your cloud save can only be read and changed by your own game account.
Ads and your choices
Unthread is free and shows ads from Google AdMob: optional reward videos (for example an extra heart or a free hint) and occasional full-screen ads between levels, never in the middle of one. Ads are limited to content suitable for teens. Buying Remove Ads stops the ads between levels; reward videos stay available, and only play when you choose them.
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and US states that require it): at first launch Google's consent form asks for your choices. Change them any time in Settings → Privacy choices.
- iPhone and iPad: Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asks before the IDFA is used. If you decline, ads are not personalised with it.
- Android: reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device's Google settings.

How long data is kept
- On your device: until you uninstall the game or clear its data.
- Cloud save: until you delete it in the game or ask us to.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and consumer law require, to handle refunds and disputes. They are linked only to the random game account ID.
- Leaderboards: kept by Google and Apple under their own policies. The weekly and daily boards restart every week and day.
- Analytics: for the retention period set in Google Analytics (2 to 14 months). Crash reports: up to 90 days.
- Advertising data: according to Google's own retention policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, and to object to or restrict how it is used. We rely on providing the game and its purchases, our legitimate interests (security, fixing crashes, aggregated analytics) and your consent (personalised ads, and anything else the law asks consent for).
You can delete your cloud save and game account at any time in the game under Settings → Delete my data. To make any other request, see how to delete your Unthread data. We reply within 30 days. We never sell your personal information.
Children
Unthread is meant for players aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Everything the game sends travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). The database only lets your own game account read or change your cloud save, and requests must come from the genuine app.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app.
